Jon hits on a very important point here. Not only will tools not
seat repeatably in a collet, but they will also move in the collet
in the case of endmills as a result of the axial force developed by
the helix of the cutter. People (myself included) tend to
compensate for this by overtightening the drawbar. Not a good
practice. IMO, endmill holders are one of the best investments you
can make for accurate and repeatable work on a machine with an R-8
spindle.
