I have the Miller 380 (bought about 3 years ago new)
and it is rated to cut 3/8 and severe 1/2 steel.
It can use 110/220 which is nice...all you do is flip
a switch.
By the way consumables can get $$$..try to get the
shop to throw in extras when you purchase the machine.
It cuts thin sheet at an amazing rate...but when you
start to cut 3/8 you slow down of course. It will cut
1/2" steel, but the results are demolition like (for
cutting junk up). It cuts 3/8" amazingly well for its
size and cost (about $1500), but I would say if I was
going to give parts (CNC Cut) to a customer...I
wouldn't advertise that I could cut more than
5/16"....It will cut 3/8", but it is not a nice crisp,
clean fine edge like cutting 1/4, or 1/8 or especially
thin sheet.
Aluminum...It cuts aluminum very well, but you must
get a feel for the speed at which to cut with (speed
affects the cleanliness of the cut and amount of dross
when plasma cutting steels....but it is very important
with aluminum), don't expect this machine to cut much
more than 1/4 aluminum.
Stainless....It cuts very well...similar to steel.
I have yet to cnc this plasma cutting system...but
when I do I will be sure to add lead ins to all the
parts because when you pierce a hole..."it ain't
pretty."
Just $.02 from someone who owns one.
Take care all and hope this helps,
Todd W S
