Yeah, I forgot this bit about the LED digit showing the baud rate
setting. That pretty
much confirms it is a micro, not a UART.

I think the BTR uses a parallel connection between the CNC control and
the BTR,
since it is emulating the paper tape reader. The baud rate would be for
the serial
communications between the PC and the BTR.
