i am new to cnc, and intend to build a wooden clock and i have seen the results that can be achieved , impressive.The timber will be 3/8 marine ply .
following redundancy cash is an issue so will be an added challenge.

Been there, done that. :-)

What do you want to machine? What size parts? What materials? Give
me some more information before I go into a long discussion on what
you need and what can and can't be done. For example, you can't cut
brass, copper or aluminum with a CO2 laser, although you can cut
stainless and most steel.

Are you on a tight budget or do you have some $$$ to spend?
