Ron,
When you mention casting a lead screw for a jib borer, do you mean they
actually cast the threads on the leadscrew itself, or cast a nut to the
lead screw?
Hint on casting nuts, make a pass square to the shaft as you'd expect,
but also make a pass as square to the thread -flanks- as you can.
Spraying square to the shaft kind of short changes the sides of the
threads. Trust me, lapping nuts out isn't any picnic....
