All the SSR's I have looked at have opto isolation as well as do
Gecko's.


The Cambell board does offer additional features that may or may not
be required.

There are a lot of people who wire directly into the port, from
electronics hobbyists, to telescope people to machine tool people.

Also, for my machines on machine tools, I keep them dedicated and
simple software loaded.

If you plan to surf the internet and use your machine as a general
purpose machine, while you use your Bridgeport, you accept the risk
of a virus doing bad things as well as having your registry cluttered.

relays however like the PMDX has no "watchdog" feature that monitors
erroneous pulses from the PC (it didn't two years ago anyway and they
didn't sound too concerned about changing it).


I'm not sure what signal the Cambell board does that differentiates a
signal to the port from an erroneous signal.
