I don't know why that wouldnt work. When we reduce our drives with 2 and 3:1 ratios or whatever we're doing the same thing. as long as it was a timing belt, it should work perfect. Mcmaster has some that are like 1/8" wide and small sheaves to match for all different ratios. Of course as always it would probably be cheaper to buy another encoder. Wait a minute, I have 3 1000 cpt encoders at work in a box and I'm never going to use them. I pulled them off of my servos when I retrofitted. They are high quality brand new Allen-bradley's at 5 volts, canister type with an 1/4" input shaft. I dont know what the current draw is though. If you want them Email me your address off list and I'll throw them in the mail tomorrow.

Hi all,
As you know, I have a few 2,000 (500 point) encoders.
I was thinking of connecting them to the motors with a 2:1 pulley to
make them 1,000 count.
Is this all wet ?
