It's not really a divider-it actually does multiply the steps it receives by
10 (or whatever you set it to). This has the same effect as would dividing
your encoder pulses, as far as the amount of machine movement per "received
step", but it is different in that if it was really a divider on the
encoder, you would need 10X the amount o actual pulses INTO the Gecko to get
the same motion.

That is what the step multiplier does. Assuming it is the same
device that's been added to the G320 to make a G340. It sounds
illogical, but it actually is a divider. In 4x mode, your 2000 ppr
encoder will be 500 ppr. Or you can look at it as it now moves four
pulses for every single pulse from the pulse source. I own two G340's
(multiplier built in), and some small Yaskawa Minertia servos with
2000 count encoders (8000 quad). I ran them on the bench with
different multipliers with success. Marriss just made the multiplier
available so that G320 owners could add the capability later I guess.
