Sorry to be pedantic, but the motor is NOT 30lbs per foot. It is 30 lb-ft or
"pound-feet).
It is a multiplication, NOT a division.

The motor is 30 lb/ft not 30 lb/in, so it should be x 12 if I understood
Steve's formula. That would be 1/3 of
30 = 10 x 12 x 16 = 1920 oz/in. Or 1/5 of 30 = 6 x 12 x 16 = 1152 oz/in..
The tag on the motor shows cont. stall at 6 lb/ft. So the latter is
probably right. I think.
That should be enough to run a 7' gantry with 2 cutting heads. Maybe I'll
build the machine larger, no then I would have to build an addition on the
building. My wife would kill me.
Thanks
Bruce

From what I've read. Continuous torque is approximately 1/3 to 1/5 of stall
torque. Using 1/3 a servo with a stall torque of 30 lb-in would be 10 lb-in
continuous. And then its 16 ounces to the pound. About 160 oz-in continuous.

Hi

Is there a formula to determine what the oz in of a motor is from the
continuous stall lb/ft or peak
stall lb/ft. Is there a web site I can go to go reference this material. I
know little about motors and
controls. Any help would be appreciated.
