Hi Luke,
I got the new drip, and read the DXF ok. Same for the text.
Pretty much as I suspected, pin 1 is the "strobe" to indicate a
character is ready (like "clock" from a tape reader), pin 11 is a "busy"
line, the BOSS holds this line until it is ready for the next character,
and the "error" line, pin 12 is held low. Pin 18 is ground.
Running under DOS with a "standard" parallel port would be best, and
keep the cable to about 6-10' if possible. No time-out, as you've noted.
I don't know the BOSS functions on tape read, does it read into memory,
and stop when full? If the writer of the text (Kevin) can run for 30
hours, then it certainly suggests that it should handle it.
If you have a parallel port breakout box, like the Multi-Tech Systems
MT25, you can watch the "busy" line. I suspect yours is not holding you
up properly. Or perhaps you need to "HOLD" on the BOSS when you
approach the full point, and then CONTINUE. Sorry, I don't have a BOSS
to check it out on.
