Got the book... and had a good laugh at the PCB production section! (sorry,
no offence Mr Williams)
In the main the book has everything I need.
I trying to weight up whether I start simple and just build a drill bot
rather than a mill.
Maybe build it strong enough to do plastic front panel milling but not
wood/metal.
The welded metal tubular frame might have to wait until v3...
Using MDF as the main build material.
I do like the PVC blocks with the four screws on the crankorgan 7th thingy
as this look like a good way to adjust the setup of the machine.
Might even get a mate to mill some Alu ones for me...
I also like the skateboard bearings and pipes idea, much cheaper than linear
bearings, if I go for just a drill bot.
The books hacked about PC case and PC power supplies is also a very good
idea.
The gantry style looks like it is the easiest way to go forward.
First step is getting the motors and driver boards built and sorted, thats
the bit I can do easily.
Then I can start to move on the main structure.
I'm thinking of a build website similar to the book showing lots of photos
and drawings etc... but with a distnctive UK parts lists...
Cheers all, please keep up the comments/info, it's all greatfully
recieved...
