Scott,
I had purchased a Boss5 becuase it had the same problem.
I just kept blowning the "Z" axes transistor. I thought I could fix
it... not
knowing electronics at all...I was dreaming. However, I did meet a person
over the internet who spent weeks coresponding with me via email and
walked me through the tests and adjustments I needed to make to get this
machine working
and no longer blowning the "Z" transistors, it costed $5.00 after we
found the problem. I remember this .. all it
final took was adjusting a "Pod"
on the "Z" borad to the right ampage or voltage (I don't remember) and
it was fixed. I will try to round up all the
emails and notes and get them to you Scott -- that is if you would like
them. This guy knew these
machines inside and out and used 3 or 4 of them all time in his shop. He
felt the machine is too good
not to use and fix if you can't afford to retro-fit it. He was just the
blessing I needed.
I also have the books with all the schematic that were released for this
machine. I may be able to
get some scans for you if needed.
Don't know electronic ...but maybe I can in some way.
