Yes, you are so correct..... vacuum tables alone with dust collection on a cnc router are very important!

Hi, I use my cnc router system sometimes to cut very small parts, and I had to find out how to do this without spending a fortune! Here is how I did it, should help you too....

Here's how.... you will need to purchase transfer tape (used in the vinyl graphics industry), and double sided carpet tape, make sure it's the paper kind (much easier to work with) you can also find this at you local sign supply store..

The tranfer tape will be applied to the bottom of the material your going to cut to..... yes you will need to set the Z axis to cut just to the applied transfer tape, the double sided tape is than applied at ramdom places to hold down the transfer taped material to be cut....

If this isn't strong enough to hold down your parts, you can also apply a little spray adhesive such as 3m's Super 77 before applying the transfer tape.

I make wooden gear clocks, and this above method allows me to cut wooden gears as small as a half inch in diameter!

Lets dont get totally dumb here- a vac table is an essential part of
many CNC routers, particularly home built ones for cutting small, light
parts. It is clearly on topic of this list.

I built a vac table for my router, using a shop vac and pegboard for the
surface. It is NOT as good as Id like, so more discussion here would be
helpful.
