Re: Laser mouse based DRO

Yeah, i don't think any mouse would work very except the old encoder
variety. Since a laser mouse uses the last frame as it's reference
point, it's only as accurate as it's last frame. So the error is
accumulative in BOTH directions. So moving the mouse back and forth
several times would result in an unknown error. The only way it could
be repeatable would be to add strip with index marks every .1" or so.
This way the mouse would only accumulate error over the .1" range and
then recalibrate at every index mark. Since these are closed box
designs, I really don't think the index mark idea would be possible.
But if anyone wants to go ahead and CNC their laser mouse, I'd love to
read about it :)
