This is a great idea. I think part of the mission statement for NIST-EMC is
to make the technology available for the hobbyist and small-medium size
company. The difficulty in setup is a serious barrier - most of the
toolmakers I work with are barely making it with Win98, forget about Linux!
Would the CD contain a full image of the operating system and maybe a boot
disc with a macro to format and partition then copy the CD image to the hard
drive. In my humble opinion, RTLinux was more of a pain to set up than EMC.
If I had more knowledge about Linux, I would contribute, but I'm just
reaching the dangerous stage myself (I know just enough to get me into
trouble and not enough to get me out of it). Anyway, it's just a thought...
