[now lapsed interest (was an out-source trainer/demonstrator, now retired)]
International, UK based company called Licom does a Windows
based CADCAM application called AlphaCAM.
Web site at,
http://www.licom.com
Will import DXF files and output CNC prog files or you can use
it's own built in full 3D CAD. This includes your own cutting tool
designer and built in standard selection, and supports full real
time on screen cutting simulation
The CNC prog files are supported by a wide selection of
machine/controller specific compilers or they will write one for your
machine (text editable files you can do yourself)
Needless to say, as an international industry standard application
it's not cheap.
They do have offices/training centres around the world and there
tech support (not free) is very good and they will help with comms
problems as well.
