Ron,
Cost is about $3K for the basic mill package, more as you add
options.
While it has CAM in the name there are drawing features in it and
you can get an integrated 3D CAD as an option. I don't have that
options and when I do need to draw I am now using Alibre Expert
(hoped that with Expert in the name I would be one <g>). But for
most parts you never actually draw them. Instead, you draw some
layout geometery and then use dialog boxes to set up features such
as faces, sides, pockets, bosses, holes, threads, text, etc. You can
download a demo version from their site that lets you try all
features except for posting code and saving. It is a very
interesting and productive way to program a part. Generally I can
have the part cutting on the machine in the same or less time than I
could have it draw. If you do have a CAD model to work in you can
pull that in and work from that.
