Yep that's a good option. I'll probably do that as well. It'd be nice to
stop the mess getting onto the screw in the first place.....

Could you rig up a felt (or something else) wiper on a bracket that
would wipe the swarf from the screw ahead of the ball nuts?

I'm having some difficulty keeping swarf out of my lathes Z axis ball
screw.
My installation has it running up the center of the bed, tidy but ALL

however they all seemed to limit the saddle travel at the worst possible
time..
I have some space under the headstock (which bolts onto the bed), and

thinking of one of those spring steel coil thingys (ie question 1 is;

anyone give me the correct term for these")
Any opinions/experiences/advice?
Can they be done in plastic?
Where to buy?
Rough price?
