I have a journeyman 300 Tree mill that I picked up off ebay for $750. Those
are really rigid machines. They have ballscrews and a 2/1 ratio timing belt
drive using 3/4Hp servo motors. See my web site at www.seanet.com/~dmauch
and www.camtronics-cnc.com for detail on my retofit. I used G320 gecko
drives with an 80VDc power supply. I can get 100 IPM+ from it.
The dc spindle motor for the Tree journeyman 300 was a 3800 RPM Porter PMDC
motor. Not sure why yours is 1300.
I guted all the electronics but keep the electrical cabinets as they make
great storage cabinets for cutters, tool holder, fluid containers etc.
If the ways are rusted and you know something about cnc I think it would
make a great machine. One of the really nice features is that it will fit in
most shops fairly easily because the overall height is only 82" as I recall.
