Simply put, it's like running lower octane gasoline in a car.
Acceleration, top speed and low end torque are all affected. The higher
voltage makes the current rise faster in the coils. Think of it like a
Slinky toy http://slinky.org/ if you pull the end faster, the power
goes through the Slinky faster. If the coils have fewer turns, that
means there inductance is lower, which is the same as a higher power
supply. You can think of that as being a shorter slinky (or even
heavier wire).
