If you look in the Digi-Key catalog under ribbon cable, they have something
they call "ultra-flex" I think. it is made with finer and more numerous
wire
strands, and an insulation that accepts the increased flexing. You need to
clamp the ends so that the flexing doesn't reach the connectors.

This stuff has VERY thin wires, about #30 AWG, I think. Standard ribbon
cable is #26. Either is pretty inadequate for motor wiring. It would be
fine for encoder and limit switch uses, though.
