Thanks for the time !

I'm only an intermittent reader of this group and hence unfamiliar with "the
ELS". I get the idea, though .. an electronic Quick Change Gearbox, mostly
for threading purposes. For my Sherline, I added a Servo to the spindle;
done. For my SouthBend though, this might be a most useful addition ...

And while I suppose I could adapt the ELS to this use, as two axes are all I'm
looking for, the actual electronics involved in my project are SO simple, I
think the ground up approach might well be easier.

(My problem could probably be solved with a 7474, a 74123, a couple of 74161s
and a gate or two of glue. But with my old eyes, coding is easier than
wirewrapping, so a uController it is.)


The problem is not the electronics exactly, it's getting the smoothest motion
at these very slow rotational rates, in a light package, and without gearing
if possible.
