Hello Friends,
just as a general backfeed about this thread:
At the moment I am converting a german 1957 surface grinder that had
allready Y and Z with simple squirrel cage motors for fast advance to
a fully automatic PLC control.
For 220$ material per axis I changed the fan against alunium ones,
mounted 2 proximity switches little offset that read the position from
the fan's fins. (Z axis 0,00325mm / puls = good enough) And control
the axis by 3 SSR after the contactors.
Best results I had at PWM modulation of 30 Hertz and 25% duty cycle.
The fulltime run at this modulation turned down the speed from 1700
rev to 5,3 rev. My shortest movement is 3° which permits a fully
controled automatic work.
This way I keep the original machine and do not have to invest in new
motors and adapt them. As a gift I have position reading for free.
Regards from under ground.
If somebody is interested in more info please contact me off list,
because the job doesn't permit me much list reading in the moment.
