Tom,
Thank you. Yes, I still post many dozens of messages and replys each
day to folks doing their own DIY; and have the DIY-CNC yahoo group,
and my 9x20Lathe group and others as well.
In short, my committment to DIY is as strong as ever; I simply have
read literally hundreds of times now that folks generally feel far
less qualified in the electronics arena than in other portions of
the task.
And with so many good folks--such as yourself and Jim, Dave, Phil,
Jeff, Mariss, Dan, Bob--offering the "middle" option, plug-and-cut
was pretty much the only open "niche". It also lends itself better
to our machines; which have been in the works for some time now.
I DO remember the conversation you've recalled, and I'd today take
the same stand as back then. It's based less on what "I" want than
what the original poster had/has asked for. In that thread he let us
know he wanted to do it himself, and asked for resources to learn
how...
FWIW, We've aquired www.cncresource.ORG as well, and are working
hard to put together this NON-store portion of our offering.
So while I'm QUITE sure that I'm currently leaning pretty far in
the "commercial" direction--all meanings of that word-- I believe my
heart is still in the right place.
Thank you again for the kind words,
Ballendo
