COMMON only means 'shared' on GECKO products. Elsewhere in the electronics
world COMMON means ground or the common point between a split supply which
is still usually earth or ground. Call it LINKED if you will or SHARED or
SIGNAL_RETURN or SIGNAL_SUPPLY or SIGNAL_SHARED or SENSOR_RETURN or
SENSOR_DRIVE.

Yes, I'm sure it's possible to find designers out there that will call it
something different from lack of experience or to obfuscate their designs
but IMHO it was a mistake to call it COMMON.

Alas, that's the way it is now once a product has been out for a while.
Pretty difficult to change to something else but it doesn't make it right.
