I know how that works. When I built my first 4 mHz Z-80, I build a
custom keyboard with Microswitch brand magnetic key contact modules that
could be assembled into custom arrangements on specially designed metal
strips. I used keyswitches from old keypunch machines made by Mohawk
Data Systems, and used the Vedit text editing program because the key
assignments were configurable. Boy, those were the days!
