I'm not sure I follow how could a linear movement cause the chips to
clear? You might want to try a smaller step down, do light cuts and
you are much less likely to get melting. It also depends on the
plastic, Delrin machines a bit more like brass than plastic,
perspex/acrylic is pretty crispy too but some of the chewy plastics
seem a nightmare.
