Hi:

Just a note, if you intend to experiement with the arm and can program, the Mach3SDK is probably the route to go. You could write a pluigin to Mach3 to recognose the device, and read its positions serially. From there calculations coudl be done for the kinematics involved. It will be a couple of months or so till Mach3 delves into kinematics, but the code base has been prepared already with realtime conversion on a step by step basis, I just havent implemented the formula control or matrix controls for the users to modify. Our thought is to provide
users with a screen that allows for setting a series or rotational matrices that make are non-comutable but a series of rotations starting from base rotation and cumulating the matrix rotations till the end corrdinates are calculated. This will be done on a per step basis during the planning run. By keeping the formulas as simple matrix rotations, we hope to achive the neccessary speed of calculation to allow for very complex kinematic relationships of various devices..

Thanks,

Dave,

After reading through something of a manual for this arm, it shows
that it needs to be calibrated or zeroed to some known position
before measuring. Assuming I can get communication or at least see
some sort of signal (not sure if it is RS-232), I don't know how to
tell the arm what zero is. I think it will be difficult to figure
out exactly what is being sent and received from the arm. I will try
a sniffer to see what I can find, but it will be some time before I
get to it, work/life getting in the way again. I will post some
results when I get back at it.

Thanks
