Sure, but shipping large power transformers across the Atlantic
is pretty expensive! Also, some US surplus outfits won't take international
orders. A new 1 KVA power transformer is going to be quite expensive,
too.

This is the 21st century, no-one uses money orders anymore, do they. That should have gone the way of sheep and cattle bartering. Currency is move around by VISA and ACCESS and nearly everyone takes those and most take Paypal. Shipping from the States is not that expensive if the weight is kept low enough for US mail.
