If you really want something good and cheap then supply a set of stationary
somethings that your board can register against for height, use some soft
tubing laying flat (think fire hose) on either side, along the edge, under
the board. Clamp one end of the tubing and pressurize the other end. The
tubing will become round again and will clamp the board upward against the
somethings. I�ve use the basic idea to clamp wooden and metal parts that
didn�t lend themselves to clamping by conventional means for machining. It
spreads the clamping force over a larger area and doesn�t damage the parts.
