Absolutely.

I've a large ballscrew here that came off a very expensive laser cutter,
the encoder is direct drive off the end of the screw.

Gotta be some mileage in there when you are talking high six figure
numbers for a machine.

BTW - they reckoned the machine was scrap, apart from being caked in
crap the screws were only needing a bit of TLC.
