Several free solid modellers support scripting and import of standard
file formats. Two come immediatly to mind: Blender and GMAX. Rab does
his 5 axis stuff in GMAX using scripting. Blender uses python. I bet
either one of them would slice. If you use .obj models they may even
do color. I would rather write scripts to use someones proven code
than try to do the matrix math required to slice STL files.
Just a thought... I've never seriously used either one of them.
