The nice thing about the SLC format compared to STL is that its really
simple, its just a list of vertices of the contours that make up each
layer. The CW/CCW nature of each loop say if its an inner boundary or
an outer. No tricky maths required though it is easier in Matlab than
it will be in C or others.

I've found scripting fine but you are always working around the
program and really have to know it well, I don't know blender or max
though I have played with both, I'd rather spend a week coding proper,
but that's just me.
