Sorry Steve.
I normally try to leave the previous message or part of it so one knows what
the response was to.
But I do regularly forget to clip the rest. Please feel free to tell me off
when I do this, it is needed.
I get into the reply, then by the time I get to the end, wife and kids are
moaning so send gets clicked, as I realise its not complete.
I also much prefer your two liner, I tend to waffle too much, but dont like
long posts they are too complex to follow, and Im the guilty one here.
As to EMC2, I have spent a long time getting all the rest of the machine
configured to work with Mach, I dont really want to get into another
package, I also have a massive array of programs prewritten for mach.
I have friends at University, research colleagues that use linux and some of
them EMC a lot, their initial presentation is that its brilliantly stable,
never falls over unlike windows, just what you want to hear, then you get to
hear about the inefficiencies, the bugs etc etc., and you really wonder
whether it is just having to learn something else full of bugs. I know mach
and I like it.

124 lines of unnecessary quoting removed for a three word post!!!! It's
not hard to remove the dross out of your replies, a couple of keystrokes
and we don't have to download the same stuff all over again!
Embarrassingly, my reply is a two liner..
Why don't you and Jon get together, bite the bullet and use his hardware
and EMC2? Or spend £7500 and have a solution tomorrow?
