Hi Jon,
What version of RedHat are you using? For some reason RH seems to be a bit
picky about which monitors it will use and you can spend a long time getting
nowhere. If its RH5.2 I would load up the XF86Setup .rpm and use that to
sort out the monitor. For some reason this prog is not loaded by default but
it seems almost essential to set up a monitor properly. You don't get this
option with RH6.x and have only got XF86Configurator which is nowhere near
as good. I have just reloaded one of my machines and thought I would try out
RH6.2 but there was no way it would work my old Compaq monitor correctly so
I eventually put Mandrake7 back in and that sorted the monitor out right
first time! I sometimes wonder when people say that these are both basically
the same program!!
I don't know whether ti may be possible to use Mandrake's 'DrakeConf' or
'Lothar' under RH, the possibility only just occurred to me, but, other than
this your only option is to slowly work your way thought the list of
monitors in the hope that one will do the job.
