I would say about 0.010 inches for this arrangement. It is reasonable to
expect resolution to be about 1% of the camera's field of view as
measured in the plane of the laser.

Not at all. About 0.004 inch IIRC.

With the right optical setup you can achieve great resolution. I won't
belabor it here since I did volumes of expounding on the Mach3 Forum
under Video Probing.
