I made a bracket to mount a Westwind air bearing spindle to my
Bridgeport's quill.
It worked VERY well. I have pictures here :

I made two identical plates and bolted them together with a spacer. It
has two
large holes that were cut by orbiting on my CNC machine, and then bored
with a
boring head for most accurate diameter and circularity. Slots were cut
with a bandsaw
so that clamp bolts could squeeze the bracket to hold the quill and
spindle motor.

If you build it like this, I think spinning the motor housing would be
totally impossible.
Remember that one Hp at 24,000 RPM is a lot less torque than it would be
at 500 RPM.
