Hi Brian

When you say 'harvested' -- are you actually unwinding the transformers and
using that wire?

If you are, you are inviting a world of hurt as solid-core copper wire will
always break and cause no end of troubles. You need to use stranded for
anything that moves, even just going from a computer/controller box to your
machine.

You can go to a hardware store and buy enough stranded wire for a lot less
than the cost of an endmill and vice...

For connectors, I really like the Neutrik Speak-On connectors -- I get them
from Parts Express. Easy people to deal with and decent pricing.

4 pole chassis mount - $2.79

4 pole plug cable mount - $3.79

8 pole chassis mount - $6.59

8 pole plug cable mount - $8.25

I used to do sound a long time ago and I have run hand-trucks and dollies
over them without damaging them. The connection (twistlock) is secure. Good
stuff!

Neutrik also makes some really nice ruggedized Ethernet and BNC panel mount
connectors
