Yup. For 2.5d it is great. And Les is s responsive as Art and Brian are with Mach3.

Andy,

I just looked at sheetcam and realized I had been there before.   I think I wrote off sheetcam since it didn't do true 3D.   Since lathe is 2D that shouldn't be an issue.   I must say for 2.5D Sheetcam looks like a bargain.

Les (of SheetCam fame) has hinted at a lathe CAM program sometime in the future. If it is as good a Sheeetcam, it will be worth waiting for.

Hi Andy,

I just got off Art's site.   The Lazycam video leads me to believe that LazyTurn won't suit my needs    I like Art's Mach3 but I think I will have to go with a more conventional CAM software.   Back to VisualTurn when I can scrape up the $ for purchase.

Lazyturn may be used for free, in it's latest version, per emails I got from Art(maybe on the list?)

He stated it was his retirement gift to us all.

You do need to go to the web-based forum, and read up on how exactly to install it, though.

I played with Lazyturn, and kind of liked it for what it was, but it is too simple to be really useful. You can't just generate multiple-tool Gcode for a profile.

Hi Glen,

I haven't tried LazyTurn!   I'll have to look into it.  I couldn't open the link.

I have a license but not sure if it is the pro.   Lazycam was kind of crude when I started out so I bought Rhinocam for the mill and have been doing turning manually.   I want to be able to easily turn duplicate items so am now looking at both a cam solution and converting a lathe.    Converting the lathe seems easy compared to finding a budget cam!   I don't need bar pullers, threading, or other complex stuff so maybe Lazyturn will work for what I need.

Thanks!

Jack

Have you tried LazyTurn ? It's included with the Mach 3 installation
now, but I think you need the Lazycam Pro license ( which I have but I
may be wrong ). I had a play with it a few months ago and it seems to
work well, however I don't need it as I just use the wizards in Mach 3
for most operations. You don't have to draw offsets for all the cuts,
it's done automatically. Here's the link to the manual download page.
Page 52 gives you a quick
overview.http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,10091.0.html
Regards,Glen.
