I was surprised to see the extruder also be a replicated part. Aluminum
would seem to be desired here. But they are getting away with it! (I
really like aluminum).

After watching the videos of the SAE Prusa Mendel being assembled, I'm
convinced that rigidity is not an issue. Always good to look at new ways to
build things. In a similar vein, wood and plastic routers are being built
with "alternate" construction methods. Plumbing pipe!

I'll keep following their progress.
