There are plenty of motors with built in controllers & drivers. Take a look at linengineeeing. The built in driver/ controller is on the motor. Plug in your communication cable, write and download your program, test it. You can then unplug your computer and it is a standalone motor (with a power supply and a button to trigger the event of course).
Some of the motors have enough io and memory to have a homing switch, multiple input buttons and programs.
