I have a right angle die grinder that takes 1/4" shank end mills for trimming aircraft rivets flush with the aircraft skin. The body is the size of the standard air grinders, not the pencil air grinder. If you stick to small end mill sizes there should be no problem.

It works great for grinding. I have a air spindle for
grinding spade drills on drill blanks (cbn or diamond coated
bits).
Never used it
with an endmill. I would expect my air spindle to have a
minimal load as in grinding, it's not a strong tool. I
bought an expensive one, (but in comparing it to the harbor
freight version, it is the exact same looking airtool, but
we bought it in an axa tool holder( but I have never used
the harbor freight version)

Does anyone have any experience using an air die
grinder or similar as a high speed spindle? I need to be
able to run up to a 1/4" end mill and will only have
air available for power - no electricity! I'll be
cutting aluminum slots that are ~1/4" wide, 1"
long and 3/8" deep. I'd like to be able to cut
1/8" deep per pass, but could live with less. This will
be as a live tool on a lathe - no Y control, so I can't
effectively use a smaller end mill with a pocket.
