I have my lathe set up for CNC tho I almost never use it with CNC. I have a
Jet 13X25 lathe with QC gear box. I used a 450 oz in stepper motor for the
carriage and for the cross feed.
It was pretty simple. I a simply slide the pillow block off the feed rod and
machined a pulley to fit the feed rod. Reassembled the pillow block with a
timing belt in place and made a motor mount to hold the stepper motor.
The cross feed is a direct drive using a coupling to couple the leadscrew
with the stepper. I made C shaped motor mount to match up with the existing
leadscrew cover holes and the stepper motor.
