Re: MaxNC Gib Adjustment

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions on locking the adjusting screws. I
like Jon's idea of using the same holes to mount way covers and using
Vibratite.

Now that I know how to "lock" them, I'm still left wondering if there's any
specific (proper) way to adjust the four screws on axis? Why are there
four and not just two set screws (the gibs seem fairly rigid)? I assume
you want the gib parallel to the opposite side? But how does one know when
it is? Should it be adjusted to leave a tiny bit of play?

Sorry if these are obvious questions but I confess to being a newbie when
it comes to setting up a machine and none of the books I have seem to cover
this point. If someone can point me to a good reference, I'll be happy to
go there.

Thanks!

Mike
