For a 1Mhz signal, a $2 IC oscillator will do that. Microprocessors use
a wide variety of oscillators, so there are plenty to choose from. Or
divide down with a '74 F/F. MUCH SMALLER the WWII surplus Freq. Gen.
equipment!
