Many have made their own EDM. I have a box of parts for one and I will begin construction this winter. There is book through Home Shop Machinist's Magizeen on building an EDM. If you can't find it, I will get the info to you.
When constructing a home made EDM I think more consideration is required in the Capacitors which are selected for the machines. First of all the amount of work that is done by an EDM is along the lines of how many sparks per second and how hot the sparks are. This means that you are moving electrical energy in and out of capacitors. Some capacitors are more suited for that purpose than others. Electrolytic capacitors reach their pulse rate limits before High Frequency Polypropylene capacitors. I have the Sprague type 710P series in my box of EDM parts because I plan to build my own elecronic spark control system after I have the motion control finished. High average AC currents are a feature of the Sprague 710P series and that's what the doctor ordered here. You might consider these essential components as you get together your plans. I am sure you will uncover a lot of information shortly.

Hi,
I am new in this list.
Is there someone who has made his own EDM machine?
Please let me know.
