I suspect that the electrolysis of water is a function of exceeding a certain potential. From there on the production of hydrogen
and oxygen should be related to current density. i.e. at 100% effeciency one columb/equivalent of oxygen or hydrogen produced (by
definition).

I don't know of anyone that uses water for sinker edm. AFIK the good electrolytes for sinker are relative pure parafinic
hydrocarbons.
I bought 5 gals of rather spendy stuff. $100+/5gal after shipping.
The hole drilling seems to be done with a brass or copper tube that is spinning and the flush goes down the tube. Sometime this is
done at high presssure and the flow tends to stabilize the tube in the hole giving really nice (precise) holes.
I can look up the brand (on the electrolyte) if you are interested.

DI water is used for wire EDM and I always assumed that the flow thru the resin was set to keep the ion concentration, and
therefore the conductivity, at a certain level.

After you get all the servo and stepper boards in production this might make a really good project. <hint>

I have some nice igbt's sitting here but not sure I know enought to use them.
