That sounds good. It seems the real trick is indexing the gear blank
with reasonable precision. I suppose a spur gear with the correct number
of teeth could be used, or a small indexing plate with the appropriate
number of holes drilled.
That last would probably work pretty well if you used your mill and
DRO (or CNC mill) to make it up.
Wouldn't you have to tilt the gear blank to get the correct lead angle?
