Yes Mike,
That was a good review. I'm trying to decide which to get for my next
CNC efforts. The 180 oz/in steppers from Sanyo-Denki, or Sherline's 134
oz/in for 1/2 the price! Both look good! I intend to use about 35v
from a linear supply. Lotts of old 24v regulated supplies over here at
Weird Stuff, even the ones that don't work usually have OK transformers,
rectifiers and filters. Strip out the regulator boards, maybe adjust
the taps, and I've got all the supplies I need! It seems that you do
have to push the 35v limit to get the max out of a driver/motor. I was
getting poor results out of a nema 34 motor rotating a Yagi beam
antenna, until I cranked the voltage up. Then the acceleration and speed
were as the controller (CY525) promised.
