Phil,

At this point we have two groups emerging. I have called then
the "smart black box" and the "dumb black box" to distinguish between
them.

I do NOT imply that EITHER is necessarily a 'smarter' choice...

But we may want to identify which path we are pursuing so the
misunderstandings are minimised...
